The Trek-Wagon – Mobile Trekking Cabin Concept
The Trek-Wagon is a mobile trekking cabin created to integrate seamlessly with Michigan’s White Pine Trail landscape. The project explores mobility, sustainability, and compact living through a modular structure that can be relocated to predetermined trail sites while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint.
The cabin features an efficient open-concept layout with a private bedroom, flexible living space accommodating up to four occupants, and a full bathroom thoughtfully integrated within its compact design. A defining design feature is the system of pine wood shutters spanning the rear elevation, creating a dynamic façade that allows the cabin to transform and welcome a whole new look. They welcome natural light and expansive views when open, while providing privacy and protection when closed. An adaptable fold-down deck further enhances this flexibility, supporting seamless setup and reinforcing the cabin’s connection to its surroundings. Locally sourced, durable materials were selected to blend with the natural environment and ensure longevity with low maintenance. The Trek-Wagon represents a balance between modern comfort and immersive outdoor experience, designed to function year-round and evolve with its setting.
