"Modern Farmhouse" Statement of Purpose
For this project, I collaborated closely with the clients to select and refine all interior and exterior finishes, including flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, countertops, hardware, fixtures, furniture, appliances, exterior materials, paint palettes, and more. From the start, we gathered images of what they liked, created mood boards, and collaborated to determine what was hot and what was not. Together, we developed a cohesive aesthetic the clients affectionately call “modern farmhouse,” blending classic farmhouse charm with contemporary elements for a timeless, updated look.
Our goal was to create a warm and inviting home, emphasizing natural wood accents and a palette of rich, earthy tones with texture. I also partnered with Mary Nelson on staging the home for the parade, ensuring that every space reflected the clients’ vision. The result is a beautifully curated home that brought their dream to life and was featured in the Fall 2023 Parade of Homes in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
